We’re mourning the passing of brother James (Jim) Butler, who passed on Jan. 6, 2025. Jim was instrumental in the creation of our St. Albans C&O Modelers a quarter-century ago, inviting many of us to become involved, working tirelessly to acquire our SACOM building and refurbishing it, then in the layout’s construction and financial support throughout many phases. Jim took the lead in 25-years of our modeling conferences at Hawks Nest, and later Chief Logan State Park. His affection for the City of St. Albans was clear, not only as resident and Police Officer throughout his life, but his efforts in maintaining the St. Albans C&O depot, also by his years of modeling that city on our model railroad layout, and the intricate details involved.
Jim was a good family man, a friend to many people across the city and in our organization, and he will be remembered and missed greatly.
A Celebration of James’ life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Bartlett- Nichols Funeral Home, 409 6th Ave, St Albans, WV 25177. A short graveside service will be held immediately thereafter at Teays Hill Cemetery, St. Albans, with full military honors. Friends and family are invited to visit Friday, January 17th from 6-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Read full obituary here.
